The Runners’ Den Story
The Newport Village specialty running and walking shop known as the runners’ den came about when Paul Slaymaker and Penny Plamondon saw a need for customers in the tri-cities area to be cared for. The runners’ den, “we’ll take care of you” philosophy was carried forward as Paul and Penny saw the need to embrace the community and provide a technical and friendly atmosphere to buy running and walking footwear and clothing.
The Runners’ Den is now the Tri-Cities best running and walking footwear shop, with knowledgeable and experienced staff to find your athletic needs. The shop has won several awards over the years including:
- 2015 Golden Spike Award for Customer Service
- The Golden Spike Community Award
- Tri-City Chamber of Commerce “Small Business of The Year” 2007
- “Evening Of Caring” plaque recipient for donations to Eagle Ridge Hospital.
Over the years The Runners’ Den has grown with Clinics, Races, and special Events that provide all active community members an opportunity to take part. Our goal at the shop is to care for anyone coming into the store; whether a first time walker or a seasoned marathoner, the staff will look after you.
In celebrating their 23rd year in business, Paul, Penny and the staff at the runners’ den look forward to sharing in your next running or walking journey.
